About the Author
Tobia Bezzola is Curator of Modern and Contemporary Art and Head of Exhibitons at the Kunsthaus Zurich. He has organized numerous exhibitions and has published widely on Modern and contemporary art and photography.
Geoffrey Batchen is Professor of the History of Photography and Contemporary Art at the City University of New York Graduate Center. He is the author of "Burning with Desire: The Conceptions of Photography" (1999) and "Each Wild Idea: Writing, Photography, History" (2002), both published by the MIT Press.

This is a beautiful book, with sublime pictures of sculptures, who tells us the story of photography and the paper of sculpture in it.
It contains very good texts about the photographers and their work related to monuments, sculptures, fragments. It also mentions
the important role of sculpture to the photographers, because they could experiment new techniques, different angles, compositions
of several sculptural elements, such as still-lifes. Focus also the importance of photography to several sculptors, such as Rodin, Brancusi,
Rosso.

The book is a masterpiece of written essays and photographic illustrations showing the relationship of photography and sculpture. It should open the eyes of all photographers who want to photograph sculpture so that they don't need to be so literal, unless they choose to be.
