I love this family!

Steal me is the second book in the New York's Finest series and this is Anthony Moretti's story.

Anthony Moretti has one purpose in life and it's to become the police Commissioner in the future, just like his father did. He is the oldest of the Moretti's children and he is usually the serious one, having a permanent scowl on his face. Anthony is married to his job, as Captain of his precinct. He doesn't have time for romance and he doesn't think he can ever have a relationship. Work will always come first.

Maggie Walker works for the dinner the Moretti family frequently visits. Over the weeks, they have become like family to her. She does wonder about the oldest son. He can be rough around the edges, but something about him calls to her. She wishes Anthony would notice her. Although, when he does it is because she has spilled something on top of him.

Maggie's life has not been easy. She moved to the city after her divorce. She has no money and works hard to keep herself afloat. She loves her dog and dreams of becoming an author. She is lonely and having the Moretti's accept her into their fold makes her heart feel happy.

I was so happy to get Steal Me. I absolutely loved Frisk Me and I fell in love with the characters including Anthony. I laughed every time Maggie dumped food on him and how his family protected her. Luc and Vincent played a big part in this book, they both tried to make Anthony realize how important Maggie really was to him. Anthony could be stubborn with his family and his feelings, but I sighed when he started taking care of Maggie's dog. Maggie was a great character, she understood Anth and she supported him. She gave him a few chances to make amends and I supported her decisions.

As I sided note, Nonna has the best lines. To wang or not to wang.....

Continue to love on the Moretti clan

Oh, how I love this family...

When we watched as Luc fell for Ava, we also saw as the Moretti family's beloved waitress left and in her wake was a newer girl, Maggie. And while the family loved Maggie and her fumbling, went out of their way to make her feel welcome -- well, all but Anthony did.

Granted, every time Anth saw Maggie, she was spilling something on him -- tea, ketchup, coffee.

I loved gruff Anthony. The oldest sibling in the group, he has a bit of a chip on his shoulder and definitely has some high walls. One of my favorite early-on scenes was when he (rudely) corrects Maggie of his title -- and then she goes and sarcastically repeats it on the subway, "Captain Moretti".

Maggie was so easy to love, so endearing. It was easy to see how and why the Moretti family loved her (and why they accepted her, brought her in, tried keeping her in....).

This story had just enough suspense to draw out the story. Anthony's current case is dragging him down; he can't manage to solve it and because of such, he's put a ton of pressure on himself. His future goals include police commissioner but he can't have this case bringing his reputation down. When he's working on the case at Darby's Diner, and lovable Maggie's face turns to fear, his tough, high walls start to crumble and he finds himself learning everything that his family sees when they look at this woman.

There are few stories that Ms. Layne weaves that I don't fully, truly, 100%-ly love. This Moretti clan will definitely be a favorite and I can't wait to watch as the next falls -- Vincent and his partner, Jill, who is already essentially an honorary Moretti (we see a lot of these two's interactions in STEAL ME, setting up beautifully for book 3, CUFF ME).

An enjoyable read!

Anthony Moretti is settling into his Captain position and is having difficulties closing a case. He has no time to waste, especially on the adorable but clumsy waitress that serves him and his family every Sunday morning. Having Maggie involved in his case it's not helping his frustration nor is it decreasing her allure.

Maggie Walker is making a new life for herself in New York. She spends most of her days working as a waitress and all her spare time writing her book. The last thing on her mind is getting romantically involved, considering she got divorced not too long ago. But exploring the attraction between her and the Captain can't be helped, especially since he makes it obvious that it won't lead to any sort of relationship.

This story was such an unexpected surprise! Lauren Layne has been in my radar lately, especially because of her Redemption series which I've come to love. So of course, it came as no surprise that I would find this story so enjoyable.

I loved the many sides to Anthony--loving son, loyal cop and alpha male streak. He was tough and closed off emotionally, but there was a part of him that wanted what his parents had and what his brother recently found. He just didn't believe it was in the cards for him. Maggie, on the other hand, wore her heart on her sleeve. Although she had given up on ever finding love, she yearned to find the type of romance she wrote about in her books. She was smart, strong-headed and the perfect match for Anthony.

Both Anthony and Maggie were great characters to get to know, especially since they tried so hard to fight their attraction for each other. The constant bickering, the stolen looks and heated exchanges all added to my enjoyment of these two getting together. I loved how the author made it a point to bring forth their connection while still delivering on the intrigue surrounding the case and the family drama these two dealt with.

Although this is the second book in the New York's Finest series, it can be read as a stand alone. The story focuses on Anthony and Maggie's relationship and the case they were involved in. I did enjoy meeting Anthony's family and the couple from the previous book, so I'm hoping to start Frisk Me in the near future.

Nella is an idiot!

This could have been a good book, but the author made Nella a stupid idiot. Seriously, every page she was in had her trying to save some infected person or go into an infected area. Knowing she is dealing with a virus that has NO cure. The bad thing is that she is doing these things regardless of the fact that if she became infected she would end up killing the person she loved most in the world or condemning him to a fate he would find worse than death. She is a complete selfish idiot. I stared the next book and unfortunately, she just got stupider! It's terribly frustrating to read something so unrealistic. I get wanting to help others, but you don't be stupid about it. Especially when you are with someone you love. Instead of looking caring and selfless, she looks like a selfish idiot. I hate using these words to describe anyone, but they are totally accurate in this case.

Loved book 2!

I love the author. I read the first book and the second is off the chain. Good story line about Edward and Reeves relationship. It was well developed. A father, Edward with a career. His future wife had aspirations. Both individual had baggage that needed to be dealt with. Edward had a child, Ella who was unplanned but when she arrived, Ella became his world. This story highlighted joint parenting can be done for the good of the child. The couple also took the time to get to know each other. Great positive story! Can't wait to read book 3, will it be Ethan's story?

Love at First sight

I'm sure that it is possible to fall in love when you first see your soul mate, but I didn't go down that fast like Edward and Reeve. I had a rough time believing it, but I must say I was convinced with their story. It's sad that Reeve had to deal with a tragedy in her young life. I even felt bad for Amber. Looking forward to Ethan and Sofia's story.

Getting over the death of a loved one is always hard, but falling instantly in love with another person makes the guilt compound! Edward made a very hard but true decision and followed his heart! Reeve had to find herself in order to follow her heart! Their journey is beautifully told!

This is a must read for every American of all ages.

This book is very detailed. After reading this book a lot of things that are happening in America will make sense and you will begin to understand the big picture. I often wondered why this country was so screwed up and why the banking and financial systems work the way they did including the media. After reading this book it helps me understand what is going on how it got to this point and what the plan is for the future .

Lee Wanta is a hero! Please provide a hardcopy version of his story so more people can learn about him.

If the people only knew of Ambassador Lee Wanta's story -- his loyal work under President Reagan in relation to the Soviet Union; how he was stabbed in the back and put in prison because of the vast sums he accumulated under Title 18, Section 6, Executive Order 12333; how his financial rewards were then stolen by the corrupt Powers That Be in government and the Federal Reserve while he was in jail; and how he wants to keep his promise to President Reagan and use the money he earned for the benefit of the American people and to fix the American economy -- they would stand up and demand his rights to his own money be honored.

If Wanta's story is true, everything we have been told about the Federal Reserve System is wrong and everything we suspect about corruption in Washington is right. It is "one stop shopping" and contains references you won't get in the Dawood, Hilali, Rodwell, Arberry, or SV Mir Ahmed Ali. Great labor has been invested in this translation, and it comes from an Arabic speaking Christian so it isn't sanitized for Western consumption. Small wonder CAIR is sniveling about it! Who works harder than they to hide the true teachings of Islam? I realize Muslims won't be pleased with this, and no mosque will ever send you a free copy of this exceptional work. If you want soft and sanitized, go for Yusuf Ali (mosques will ship one at no cost to you); if you want the truth, go for this Generous Qur'an. If you wonder who Muslims are, what is this entity they call Allah, and who is Muhammad, I can't recommend this highly enough. Nothing in this Quran is at odds with the Ahadith and Tafsirs published on the web by Muslims. Time to wake up, spoiled children of Democracy! The truth can set you free.

Excellent translation of the quran

Usama has made an excellent translation of the quran. This translation is more reliable than the translations made by muslims. Muslims tend to water down their translations in order to make islam look more appealing and they hide the nasty verses of the quran. CAIR is a terrorist organization. It is better not to listen to what they have to say.

Very good to have an accurate translation

The english Qur'an has been watered down, most of them are more so paraphrases than literal translations so it can be skewed. This does a good job of giving an accurate english translation, and also shows what words were non-arabic in origin (one claim of islam is that it's in pure arabic). The only reason 4/5 instead of 5 is some of the observations pointed out seem to be overly biased, and i wouldn't use them in apologetic discussion with a muslim. However, it does a great job pointing out where verses were abrogated (removed and a different verse placed), and where muhammed fudged up stories from the tanakh (old testament).

Great tool none the less for a christian or anyone wanting to know what the qur'an says. I recommend reading 'Christ, Muahmmed and I' by Mohammed al ghazoli along with this so you know why verses are there and what was the historical context around it.
