if you want reliable tailoring blocks this is the book

Winifred Aldrich is a master at producing books with clear istructions for well fitting blocks and this book is no exception. It also includes one of the few chapters detailing the history of tailoring that i have seen. This is important as to come to term with tailoring in all its guises knowing the history helps. Her blocks as usual are straightforward to draft and fit really well, but ... she still retains the 'blow by blow' instructional format which as a teacher i find difficult to work with. She provides line drawings of many variations of collars, vents, sleeves, necklines, etc... and then provides detailed instructions on how to draft these exactly leaving no room to develop a knowledge of why you perform each action. Winifred also provides blocks for use with bespoke or hand tailored construction and for engineered or more contemporary construction - and discusses this difference clearly, one of the few books to cover both. For novice pattern makers, those new to tailored patterns or those seeking well fitting basic blocks you can't go past this valuable book. However those of you wanting to develope more sophisticated tailoring skills will be better off with one of the classics such as Helen Joseph Armstrong or Martin Shoben but would appreciate Aldrich as she has much better and more modern fitting blocks.

This book gives sizes in UK standards and also uses centimeters for measurements. It is very thorough and gives good overview of the necessary measurements needed for ensuring that a lady's jacket fits as required. I found it very useful as well as helpful and I have only just begun to dabble in tailoring garments. My opinion is that you cannot have too much information on tailoring and I buy every book I can on this subject. After having bought it and looked through it I would recommend it as a valuable addition to your library.

A Marvelous, Little-Known Masterpiece of World Literature--and Catnip for fans of Arthurian Legends

You can put away your Tolkien and other faux-medieval sagas--this is the real thing. Perceforest is a massive and incredible work, written in the early 1330s, that purports to be a history of pre-Arthurian Brtitain. It's also one of most overlooked books of world literature. And boy is it wild! This is an Arthurian legend avant Arthur, with lengthy guest appearances by Alexander the Great (who hands over England to King Perceforest) and Julius Caesar, who jousts with knights on horseback! Did I mention it also has the first written version of the Sleeping Beauty story, a Fairy Queen, a homicidal one year old born with a crossbow in his hand, a four-legged hairy fish with the head of an ox, a fallen angel who enjoys pranking his human friends, and more enchantments than you can shake a stick at? This monster of a book delivers a heady, vast mix of chivalry, folklore, adventure, and romance.

If you're familiar with the French Arthurian romances, you can see how they've inspired the author of Perceforest--there are many echoes of the Prose Tristan and the Grail sagas (including appearances by the Questing Beast), but they never feel derivative. And whereas the Grail romances could be emotionally austere and psychotically anti-sex, the author of Perceforest is a good-humored, sometimes bawdy fellow with an encyclopedic mind and an endless talent for remixing his sources in startling ways. He takes you through the history of several generations of kings, knights, and damsels (the great-great-great-great grandparents of King Arthur, Lancelot, Merlin, and so on) as the kingdom of Perceforest weathers its share of cataclysms and trials, and ultimately bridges his book with the History of the Holy Grail from the Lancelot Vulgate. The author perhaps runs out of steam toward the end, but the book is never tiresome--I wouldn't have minded if it was twice as long, and Perceforest is surprisingly well-structured and calibrated for a book of such incredible length.

The original version of Perceforest was written in Old French and spread across six volumes, the smallest being longer than Moby Dick! This English translation by Nigel Bryant weighs in at 780 pages but is a brisk read. Arthurian fans everywhere owe Bryant thanks for pulling off a remarkable feat--rather than translate a series of extracts connected with bare-bone summary, he recounts every worthwhile incident and interesting line of dialogue while summarizing the less essential connective passages and recaps. No characters or events have been left out, and you never feel as if you've missed a thing. The book flows smoothly, though at times it can be hard keeping track of the hundreds of knights and their progeny.

This is the first version of Perceforest in English, and it's the most important translation of an Arthurian romance since the editions of the Lancelot-Grail released in the late 1990s. It's also the last original Arthurian saga created in medieval times (Malory's work by contrast is a compilation). Though this edition is costly, you can't afford to miss it if you love magical adventures of chivalrous knights on marvelous quests. Great book that takes the mystery out of a pressing issue!

Very good book and a little known subject for me. It is happening so much these days with modern surgical methods and doctors who will do the surgery for the poor souls who are in pain in the wrong sex. I was expecting a much larger book but the author had a way of clear and concise explanations is a short number of pages.

Lovley oracle deck.

Become entwined and let yourself be wrapped by the art of the Mystical Kipper.

The Mystical Kipper (sequel to the Mystical Lenormand), features 36 lovely illustrated cards. Each card has two borders, one which is a single color around the image and the second one is more like a frame for pictures. The cards have a number at the top of the cards and the title at the bottom of the cards. Keep in mind that this oracle deck is NOT a Lenormand oracle deck. But much like the Lenormand, this oracle deck has two cards which represent the male, female, and child consultant who are receiving a reading. But again, this oracle decks a different divination approach.

In this oracle deck, a card that caught my attention was card number 33 titled Gloomy Thoughts. Here we see a man standing at the top of a tall cliff looking down at the sea. Below the sea is a seal. Gloomy thoughts represent when we cannot think clearly or we have a series of sad thoughts which may lead to depression and speaking about depression, it appears that the man on top of the cliff is going to jump to his death!

The next card is number 28, Expectation. In this card we see the corner of a house and peeking through the window is a young man and outside the house is a dog who lies on the floor. Both appear to be waiting for someone or something. This card tells you that you are waiting for someone or something. There is something that you are highly anticipating but is yet to come to you.

The last card is an important card for this oracle deck. This card is number 16 titled His Thoughts (because it is titled HIS [thoughts], it does not mean that it represents a male consultant). In this card we have a man who is dressed elegantly and revising himself in front of a mirror. Beside him is a cute penguin to watches as he dresses himself. When this card is next to any of the surrounding cards, it will tell you the persons thoughts. For example, what they think of a particular situation or person.

The back of the cards are not reversible and the illustration used for the back of the cards has a lavender background which decorated by flowers and inside an oval type of shape is a bluish grey money who holds a crystal ball.

The size of the cards are 2 1/2″ in height and 1 3/4″ weight. Much like bridge playing cards.

The cards are absolutely sturdy, flexible, non-glossy and easy to shuffle.

The box in which these cards come in is an original tuck box

The Little White Book is written by Regula Elizabeth Fiechter, who also wrote the Little White Book for the Mystical Lenormand. The LWB is very well written and gets to the point of what each card means.

The illustrations are done Urban Trosch who also illustrated the artwork for the Mystical Lenormand. The artwork is very warm and friendly, but very powerful too. The artwork is of egg tempera technique.

I’m in all with this oracle deck and just love the way it reads! Regardless if it’s a one or many cards spreads, it gives the answer that I’m looking for. The LWB, which is written by Regula Elizabeth Fiechter is a must read. I like how she explains what the cards mean and how they are every easy to understand and interpret. Anyone of all ages will have fun reading with this oracle deck. 36 cards are just enough to get the answers that you are looking for. What I like the most is that I can combine this oracle deck with the Mystical Lenormand and get more in depth answers, and since both are illustrated by the same illustrator, I can’t even tell the difference (lol). Easy to Read

This deck was just what I was looking for. I had another version of kipper cards from around 15 years ago but they were in German and they just said gypsy. I didn't know they were called kipper. These cards are easy to read with each image representing one concept. There are more people cards then lenormand and it provides a nice variation in readings.

I already owned the Mystical Lenormand and I more or less knew what to expect. This deck was exactly what I had thought of it to be! Great quality, awesome artwork and in my humble opinion, a very logical price too. Very very pleased with it!

Great ideas

I teach 7th, 9th, 10th, 11th, and 12th grade science. I had the opportunity to see Rick Smith at a workshop, and I was aboslutely blown away by the amount of ready-to-use ideas he provided. Although the workshop was mainly focused on his material in Conscious Classroom Management: Unlocking the Secrets of Great Teaching (also an awesome book), Smith brought up ideas from Picture This!.

Picture This! provides ideas for implementing the use of "visual rubrics" in your class. Examples of ideas I borrowed- I let kids keep their textbooks in my classroom, and I was irritated that I had to fix the piles at least once a week. So, I followed Rick's advice and took a picture of books in messy piles; I photoshopeed the word "NO!" on it. I also took a picture of the textbooks stacked the way I wanted and photoshopped "YES!" on the photo. I hung the two pictures up side-by-side near the textbooks; within a day, all the books were stacked in neat piles because the kids easily understood what I wanted.

I also used a "Readiness to Learn" rubric. My 7th graders are loud and obnoxious- more so than any class of 7th grade I had before- and it was pointless to try and yell over them to be quiet. I had kids volunteer for pictures; the first picture was of chaos in the room, which I labeled as "5." I worked down the scale to "1," where everyone in the picture was ready to learn. This system was SO SLICK. If it got too loud in my room, I'd simply hold up the number on my figers that the kids were at. Once I was able to get down to a 1, I was able to continue.

There are SO many rubrics in this book that can be used. I think it would be the most useful to elementary teachers, but I found many uses (beyond those two things listd above) for my middle and high school kids.

There are many great examples of rubrics throughout the book, including a password to an online collection of rubrics & videos that you can use as desired. This is an amazing book that is incredibly useful- a picture is definitely worth a thousand words!!!

Very nice!

I started out my year with my Learning Strategies class with these pictures and something to discuss every day about them for the first week or two. They then added these pics to their folders after writing a description of each. I found this book very helpful with my ESE students and I can see where most teachers, esp. in ESE classes and the lower or middle grades, would find this book invaluable as well.

I hate to admit it

I am an incredibly stubborn person.... so needless to say buying this book was a huge step for me in regards to pushing my pride aside and realizing my social skills towards women needed a tune up. If you are like me you might feel some resistance towards admitting your game could use some work. A friend of mine actually had gone out with Adam on a few sessions personally and highly recommended him. If this friend wasn't my best, or someone I had trusted for years, I would have never considered a self help book like this. After reading this book I have noticed an immense change in my attitude which has not only transferred over to my work but just the enjoyment of life in general. I have been able to accomplish things in regards to meeting women that I never thought possible. After watching a few of Adams videos online I am in awe of what he has accomplished in regards to spreading his confidence to others. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND THIS BOOK.

In this book, Tarun covers every area of TFS from source control management, work item management, testing, and build/release automation to administration. I enjoyed this book because Tarun goes beyond the basics of TFS 2015, digging into advanced topics such as extended TFS with the TFS Object Model and REST API. Tarun also covers more advanced TFS administration (i.e., analyzing and configuring the database-level test retention policies, managing CodeLens, and analyzing log files for diagnose common issues).

As a long-time TFS user, having performed countless upgrades from all versions, including Visual Source Safe, I still found hidden gems in this book. I particularly enjoyed the chapters on automated testing integration and build/release vNext. I highly recommend this book to anyone that administers, manages, supports, or uses TFS on a regular basis.

TFS 2015 Cookbook, really interesting

I read this book in one week, and it's really interesting.
This is not a book of classic TFS, its cookbook approach makes it different from others.
This treats almost every theme TFS but also on key topics of DevOps as cotinuous delivery on TFS 2015, but most also applies to VSTS.
The topics addressed are presented in the order of using TFS:
Beginning with the creation of a project team, the management of source code for TFVC and Git.
Then he addresses topics within builds, tests and Release using the latest version of Release which is integrated with TFS (then Update 2 RC1 or VSTS)
Finally the last themes are managing the TFS and TFS extension part with APIs and customization of work item form.
All subjects in the form of cookbooks respond to real issues encountered daily when using or administering TFS.
This book is therefore aimed both to administrators, developers, or even at Ops.

I recommend you buy it, read it and practice each of these cases.

This is a great book for people who want to introduce DevOps practices into their daily work, but don't have much time to dig all the details of how to do it; with the recipes delivered on this book you can quickly start using TFS/VSTS ranging from how to setup a team project, managing source code repositories, tracking work and building , deploying and testing your apps all in an integrated and cohesive manner.

If you want to go beyond it will also help in managing TFS and extending it to integrate with other tools
